Frank Trigg and Joe Stevenson both said Renato Sobral could be done with the UFC. Babalu refused to let go on his anaconda choke of David Heath at UFC 74. Heath tapped and Babalu kept the hold on putting Heath to sleep.

The Nevada Athletic Commission has withheld half of Babalu’s 50k purse pending a hearing.

Everything I am hearing seems to be pointing towards them not resigning him (his contract is now done) but they list him on their top light heavyweight section on the UFC 75 website so I think the UFC should suspend him but I think they could use his talent in the division to test other fighters by even if hes never in the title picture again.

Trigg bro — you get me so damn mad. Always full of opinions but when you can’t have it both ways on Babalu. On one hand, you condemn the actions of Babalu and agree that his punishment from the NAC should set a precedent…. but then you throw out, “I like Babalu, he’s not a bad guy” — are you trying to change our minds on an overrated and boring brazilian jiu-jitsu clone? THEN you say if someone made a comment that was insulting to your wife at Pure, you might do the same extended Gator choke…just because you got in a rage and couldn’t control it! All this coming from Frank Trigg, a former UFC Champion, who submitted to a rear naked choke. I remember Frank getting choked out vividly. His bald head seperated by a thread of veins, looked a pair of shaved albino monkey nuts. If Matt Hughes torqued you like that after the tapout, what say you then?

Frank, the very reason why Babalu is in this mess is because he couldn’t act like a real man and control his enraged emotions. Children lash out, Adults control. It’s a mess for UFC, too. And if it’s a mess for the bread and butter of your industry, it’s going to cause a mess for Frank Trigg too. I think you realize that but pick one side and stay on it. no meandering!

Trigg, you are cool and I always dig your shit, but your attitude from the interview PERPETUATES the Human Cock Fighting MMA sterotype…tell those mutha’s to chill!

Babalu’s not going anywhere. This “long-choke” incident and the arrest both make him a notorious fighter now. Fans are going to want to see him fight again so they can boo him. Anyone who seriously thinks the UFC or the NSAC are going to suspend this guy are going to get a rude awakening. Notoriety and controversy drive the business, and Babalu is good for business.

he might be notorious but Dana has been trying to clear the bad name of just guys going out and killing eachother in there he wants people to see the athletes in the UFC as just that athletes not ruthless killers
