There’s some interesting developments with the UNLV roster for the 2008-09 season. We’ve got some good info coming from the college hoops sources.

UNLV has one scholarship available for the coming season. Should that scholarship go to starter/walk-on Rene Rougeau? If not, should Kruger go for help this year or next? If he uses the scholarship this year, that leaves just one available for the junior class (total of 3 with Wink Adams, Joe Darger and Marecio Rutledge leaving).

Remember that UNLV already has two commitments from the junior class in 6-11 Carlos Lopez and 6-4 Justin Hawkins. If the staff gives out another scholarship this season, they can only grab one more player from the junior class. Is this the right move?

Right in UNLV’s backyard, there are three top 125 juniors….guards Anthony Marshall and Elijah Johnson plus 6-7 PF Clarence Trent.

UNLV is involved with roughly a half dozen seniors and transfer candidates. Leading the way are Pepperdine-transfer Malcolm Thomas and 6-10 high school senior Jordan Henriquez.

Thomas is intriguing. The sophomore-to-be is a true big man (6-8, 220) who averaged 12.5 ppg, 8.8.rpg and 2.0 blocks. He was named to the WCC All-Freshman team.
