PAT MILETICH IS LIVING IN A DREAM WORLD

miletich.jpgPat appeared on the Saturday Morning Hangover with FoxSportsRadio1460’s Ball Park Frank. He was talking about the 2/29 IFL event in Vegas and then he got to the “issue” of “real” champions in the world of MMA.

He’s part of the group WAMMA that wants to unify title belts and have one champ amongst all MMA organizations.

Key points he makes…

“MMA is disorganized with all the organizations” From the fans standpoint, is it?

“There can’t be multiple champions.” How many champs outside of UFC are really recognized as the best? Is there confusion?

“People are worried about boxing being corrupt” Essentially WAMMA is here to clean things up. Is UFC in need of cleaning? Is UFC and the term “corrupt” synonymous with one another?

“With the WAMMA belt on the line, fighters get a lot more money. It’s huge media hype.” This is a great concept for Strikeforce and Elite XC to co-promote a fight. Why would UFC get involved in something like this already holding 90+% of the market share. If UFC isn’t part of WAMMA belt unifications, how would this work? Would there be ANY media hype?

I just don’t see how this works and why the sport’s biggest organization would have incentive to participate. MSNBC did a big piece on the same topic…WAMMA and UFC’s participation.
