Buccaneers called ‘tone deaf’ and ’embarrassingly sexist’

The Tampa Bay Bucs are attempting to make the game of football appeal more to women, by launching RED.

What is RED? “A brand new women’s movement that will reinvent the female fan experience”.

This week RED explained why there is a play clock in football. Tampa Bay plan to post additional info about blending Bucs apparel into daily fashion, and encouraging women to share ideas via Pinterest.

A special RED Launch Party for The New Buccaneers Women’s Movement will take place on Thursday, Sept. 10th at Raymond James Stadium in the west club beginning at 6:00 p.m. Event highlights will include an “Insider’s Talk” with Buccaneers General Manager Jason Licht, surprise appearances from Buccaneer legends, gameday style tips from local area experts, and even a RED Lifestyle Lounge session to educate attendees on the art of incorporating their passion for the Bucs into their other lifestyle interests such as tailgating and home entertaining.

The N.Y. Times called this a lesson out of the 50’s.

USA Today says the NFL already claims that women make up 45-percent of the fanbase.

Is this a horrible way to get more women to watch football every Sunday? How do you encourage the women in your life to watch football throughout the fall?
